Nikon 110 macro photography.Marine life in Borneo.

Taken with a simple Nikon AW110.  pocket camera.

You need to be pretty steady handed to mast taking photographs of these little shrimps, As you can see they are not much bigger than the little finger nail. Less than a Cm in length. taken when snorkelling over the sabah coral reefs.




One reason for keeping focus shallow, is to avoid cluttered backgrounds Depth is good for keeping all the subject in focus, Nowadays you can use photo stacking that allows you to layer photos of the same subject at different focus, Providing the subject is still! 

With compact cameras, you're restricted to one aperture fixed, or auto, And with water, this is almost an impossibility .
